Once the theme is announced, filmmakers have 72 hours within which to create their films. This year is our ISOLATION EDITION. We ask filmmakers to film in the comfort of their own homes and take into account CDC guidelines for the health and safety of themselves and others (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html). GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE FILMMAKERS!

Backstage will be conducting an intensive workshop for our West Coast filmmakers to teach filmmakers, step-by-step, how to utilize all the resources for free (a special code for free services from Backstage Magazine will be given to attendees at the event and to those who register for the 72 Hour Shootout filmmaking competition). In the 72 Hour Shootout, filmmaking teams are given a common theme at the start of the Shootout (usually 8pm EST, the first Thursday of June) and then have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and complete short films up to five minutes in length. Space is limited. RSVPs required to join the Zoom Room. RSVP here.
